The three 5000 kVA pad-mounted transformers from Daelim Transformer were delivered to an EPC company in the United States in July 2024. These transformers are intended for a large car charging station in Long Beach, California. They operate at a primary voltage of 12 kV in a Delta connection, with a secondary voltage of 480Y/277 in a Wye connection. To manage the high primary current, the transformers are equipped with six bay-o-net fuses and six current limiting fuses on the high-voltage side, enhancing protection against overcurrent and voltage issues.

These transformers are configured with a dead front loop feed design, featuring a rigid barrier between the high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) sides. The HV side includes six 600 A 15kV deadbreak apparatus bushings, epoxy-molded secondary bushings with 18 holes, and additional support. It is equipped with a 4-position loadbreak switch and a five-position tap changer rated at 12 kV, with two positions above (12.3kV and 12.6kV) and two below (11.7 kV and 11.4kV) the rated position.
On the LV side, there are pressure relief valves, an oil temperature indicator, an oil level gauge, a vacuum pressure gauge, a 2-inch fill plug, and a drain valve with a 3/8” sampler. These transformers comply with ANSI, IEEE, NEM, and ASTM standards, ensuring high efficiency, safety, reliability, and protection against harmonic interference. They guarantee continuous and stable power supply to the charging station while safeguarding the power grid from contamination.
