Substation type 5MVA power transformer:
Daelim designed a substation type transformers based on ANSI/IEEE, CSA, IEC, and AS/NZS standards. Input voltage and output voltage are based on your actual project needs, maybe you need to get high-voltage electric power from the power line, such as 138kV, 66kV, 44kV, etc... and need the output voltage to be connected to the power distribution transformers, such as 34.5kV, 24.94kV, 13.8kV, 12.47kV, etc... Other customers might use the transformers to power up their machines directly, such as their bitcoin miners, so the input voltage should come from the upper-level substation, like 34.5kV, 24.94kV, or 13.8kV, 12.47kV, etc... And their electrical equipment might need the low voltage such as 415/240V, 480/277V, 600V, etc... All based on your actual needs.
The design of substation type 5MVA power transformer can be designed based on the customer’s installation site, high voltage & low voltage bushings can be top mounted or sidewall designed.
For the rated capacity, 5MVA is for the ONAN cooling system, if you want more than 5MVA, just in case the electric energy used is more than estimated, we can also design the cooling system to ONAF. “AF” means “air force”, which is adding cooling fans to the radiators, to improve heat dissipation. If choose “ONAF” cooling, the rated capacity can be upgraded to 7.5MVA or even more.

Pad mounted 5MVA transformer:
Most of three phase pad mounted transformers are under 4000kVA, 34.5kV, as distribution transformers to power the electrical equipment directly. But in our project experience in the North American market, there are also customers asking for pad-mounted transformer designs with 5MVA, 44kV, or even more.
Pad mounted design 5MVA power transformer can also add cooling fans, to improve the capacity. And the transformer oil can use vegetable oil if necessary.

5MVA Dry type power transformer:
In addition to local lighting, high-rise buildings, airports, and terminal CNC machinery and equipment, dry-type transformers are widely used. Dry-type transformers are those whose iron cores and windings aren't immersed in insulating oil. There are two types of cooling methods: natural air cooling (AN) and air-forced cooling (AF). Under natural air cooling, the transformer can run continuously for a long time below its rated capacity. With air forced cooling, the output capacity of the transformer can be increased by 50%. Due to the large increase in load loss and impedance voltage during overload, it is not suitable for continuous overload operation for long periods of time.
For dry type transformers in the Canadian market, there are 2 temperature rise levels, 150℃ and 200℃. We can produce dry type transformer with 150℃ temperature rise level, so need to confirm with the customer’s engineer and then offer the price and technical solution.

Canadian customer purchases 3-phase 5MVA power transformer case
The three sets of 5MVA power transformers were exported to the Montreal area of Canada in 2020. They are three-phase step-down transformers from 44kv to 12.47kv. The high-pressure side is 44kv, and the low-pressure side is 12.47kv. These two devices are no-load pressure regulating switches, the pressure regulating range is ±2*2.5%, a total of five gears, from 41.8kv to 46.2kv. Many accessories use Qualitrol branded. The cooling method is ONAF, the capacity can reach 5000kva in the case of self-cooling, and the capacity can reach 6667kva in the case of forced-air cooling (turn on the fan).

5mva power transformer production process
After the customer places the order and confirms the drawings, the technical team will hand over the material list to the purchasing department, and the purchasing department will purchase raw materials strictly according to the material list, including the purchase of imported parts. Daelim has a special quality inspection department to strictly control and review the quality of raw materials.
With the procurement of raw materials in place, the production department will quickly assemble and produce various components of the transformer, including transformer winding, iron core production, theme drying, and overall assembly.
